A Personal Auto Insurance policy may provide both liability and physical damage coverage for insured vehicles. First, it provides liability coverage for claims made against the insured for bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party resulting from the use of a covered personal auto. Second, comprehensive and collision coverage may be added to provide coverage for physical damage to insured vehicles. Covered auto's under a personal auto policy may include almost any private passenger vehicle such as a car, pickup, van or trailer. Vehicles such as motorcycles and ATV's are usually written on specialty policies.
